Recycling Plastic and Cardboard Waste

At Wray Bros we are always looking for new and improved ways of strengthening our social and corporate responsibility that's why we have invested in a new plastic and cardboard compactor machine.

Why Are We Doing It?

Our customers want to work with a company that has good morals and increasingly, our clients are looking towards the environmental stance that we set for ourselves as an industry leader.

We continue to invest in our sustainability and as of March 2019 Wray Bros is the proud owner of compacting machinery which helps reduce our cardboard wastage that would otherwise go to landfill and increase our recycling capabilities.

What Else Do We Do?

Already we employ several sustainable measures including not repackaging any manufactured goods that we receive. Which means the box that gets delivered to us, we deliver to you. That means a huge saving on cardboard and plastic waste.

For smaller orders which have to be packed in a Wray Bros box, we only use recycled material too.

So, in keeping with our current practices we have invested time, effort and money into Mil-tek compacting equipment.

So How Does it Work?

It may not look fancy, but it does an excellent job.

A Plastic Compactor Machine filled with Plastic and Cardboard waste to be crushed

Simply fill the upper compartment of the machine with as much bulky waste as possible, lock the door and allow the powerful cylinder to compress all the waste down into a small, manageable size.

The waste is then wrapped into a neat parcel and a recycling firm collect it at the end of every week.

The Result?

What would have been waste filling up a bin and going straight to landfill is now useful, recycled material, which can be used for all manner of environmentally friendly things.

Ian Macdonald of Mil-tek UK Recycling & Waste Solutions said: "The cardboard is taken into Oswestry Waste Paper (OWP) and will be sorted accordingly into different grades and re-baled. They will then arrange transport to board mills, who will then process the material by breaking it down into their recycling process and making new material such as cardboard boxes, tubes, cores and reels.

"The Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) will be sorted at our site at OWP and sent to a site that specialises in making pellets, which will be sent to companies that will melt them down and put them back into the recycling process, normally for plastic waste bags found in most supermarkets."

That means we our complying with our own standards and our customers can be safe in the knowledge that they are dealing with a company that cares about them and our shared environment.
