The right machine depends on the surface, size of the area and the type of cleaning required. Scrubber dryers are suited to cleaning and drying hard floors, sweepers collect loose debris, rotary machines can be used for scrubbing and polishing, carpet extractors deep-clean carpets, and commercial vacuums handle everyday dry soil and dust.

For larger premises, consider productivity as well as cleaning performance. Factors such as cleaning width, tank size, battery runtime, manoeuvrability and whether a walk-behind or ride-on machine is more suitable can make a significant difference to how efficiently an area can be cleaned.

A scrubber dryer washes the floor and recovers the dirty solution in the same pass, leaving the surface much drier. A rotary machine uses a rotating pad or brush for tasks such as scrubbing, polishing and floor maintenance, but does not normally recover the dirty water itself.

Neither is automatically better. Battery-powered machines give the operator more freedom to move around larger areas without managing a power cable, while corded machines can run continuously where access to power sockets is convenient. The best option depends on the site and how the machine will be used.
